is there a specail tool to hold the magneto to remove the nut holding it on

Magneto removal

I have a 1963 not sure of the model but it has a 125cc engine and while taking it apart for a rebuild, we couldn't get the magneto bolt to come out. is it a right or left handed thread and does it need a special tool to remove it?
