I can appreciate folks wanting to see it kept intact, but keep in mind that parting it out could put multiple bikes on the road. You said it, these bikes are scarce, and that includes spares. I'm pretty confident that I can make an additional $1K by parting out. I can deal with the time and effort ...

To Part Out, or Not to Part Out...

I have a '76 860 GTE bike that is 95% restored. I know, lots of people say that, but it's truly that far along. Even so, I don't have the time or interest in getting it done. And, from my research here and on e-Bay, it would appear that I can get a bit more money parting it out than I can selling it ...

I have a set of Marzocchi shocks that were stock on my '76 860GT if those cross-over. Condition is very good for being 35 years old, and the bike only had 6K miles on it.

I stand corrected, it is indeed a light bulb -dug out my manual last night... That explains why the bike ran with it burnt out. Ah, shop manuals, oh what a good thing -when you can find 'em... Over and out.

It's not a light bulb, but it is in line with the red (generator) bulb on the cluster -so does that make it the main fuse? You'd think that would be more accessible and with all the other fuses under the seat. Unless I fried it when took the battery out, then the bike was able to run without this ...

goofy glass fuse in '76 860GT

Okay, what's the deal with the goofy glass fuse in the instrument cluster on these bikes. Instead of flat ends, the ends come to a point and it clips into little brass tabs on the circuit that has the red generator lamp. Anyone know where I can buy one? Mine's blown.

The NGK B5HS is indeed the direct replacement for the original Champion L88A. Given my fouling problem, I'll stick with what I'm using. When I worked at a shop years ago, Split-Fire had come out with an equivalent, their SF265F. The bike ran better on those, but, I unfortunately misplaced them at ...

Thanks again Steve, looks like you'll have what I need when the snow is gone. Yeah, I have the square type petcocks. I don't have calipers at home, so I'll take 'em apart and bring them to work so I can make sure I order the right part.

One last question regarding plugs. I've been using NGK B5HS ...

Hello again,

Okay, you can say "duh" now. I spent a few minutes on your site, and now know what a float needle valve is -though I'm not sure I understand how that part would wear out. I also see that you sell a-pumps. I'll order both from you when we thaw out here. I also need to rebuild my ...

Hey Steve,

Thanks for the reply. I rebuilt the carbs with all new seals, and I've done this a couple times now so I'm getting good at it. The kits don't come with accellerator pumps -only a seal that goes around the perimeter of the a-pump diaphram. So, I've been using the original a-pump. The bike ...

tuning 76 860 GT with K&N filters and Bub Conti-replicas

Engine is stock with fresh hone, rings, & valvejob. Carbs are stock 32s. Tried 135 mains (stock are 122)... Started nicely from cold, idles fine at first, but gradually starts to load up a little once hot. Also, runs great from idle to redline with no flat spots. Only trouble is subsequent (hot ...
