Help- Crankcase under pressure!
I have a widecase single.
When the engine is running, oil is spraying out of the right side tube through which the clutch activation rod passes, and into the case behind the gear selection box on the right..
Yet the giant breather hose seems to be free (blow and suck okay).
What gives?
Sheldon

More Keyway
Hi Eldert.
Thanks for your comment. There does not appear to be a taper on the shaft- nothing I can see, and of course it is difficult to get in there with a mic to confirm (though I will now try) absent removing the thing. There is a keyway in the alternator rotor though. What's with that ...

Its a widecase
Thanks for that reply-
Its a 1970 450 Scrambler widecase with 6v battery and lights but no signals. Coil, points and condenser, not electronic ignition or magneto. The shaft has no taper, but a shoulder inboard of the alternator rotor, and the rotor has a keyway. My search on exploded diagrams does ...

Parallel single???
78 500 Sport Desmo. Project.
Rebuilt carbs (thanks for the parts, Steve!), cables, etc, etc. Starts nicely, runs on one cylinder. New plugs. Cold cylinder is dry. Plug is dry. Not flooding dispite repeated cranking. Not done compression test yet. Any ideas?
Thanks
Pasophisto

Restoring a '78 500 Sport Desmo
Hi folks.
I have a new project. The engine turns over, it is complete, and it is red. That is the good news. The other news is that it sat for 21 years under a deck until this morning, the pipes are not original, the forks are rusty, the choke activator is snapped off, and there are climbing vines ...

916 748 VIN number history
Hi folks:
I'm doing some research and I note that Falloon (Catalog) says production of 916s started at the end of '93, and production of 748s started at the end of '94. Can anyone advise as to the frame numbers of those first units of each model?
Thanks in advance-
Pasophisto
