Re: best sparkplugs?

Ok yep, the idle issues are extremely common and will be anything but the plugs. You'll need to sort the carbs out with the correct factory jetting, correct floats, float heights, all new gaskets, o-rings etc, pump gaskets, choke plungers/seals, and above all the correct idle mixture and accurate sy...

Re: best sparkplugs?

I'm fussy about the details myself like you Doug. I always want to know every aspect of every little part of the bike before I decide what I'm going to do on mine. The outcome regarding plugs is to use the stock item and use it as it comes in the box. The plugs are pre-gapped for the best performanc...

Re: best sparkplugs?

Ideally one wouldn't try and offset one problem with something else.. i.e. try to not fix carb issues with spark plugs. The ideal situation is to install the correct plugs and deal with any other issues from there. You should be able to get the NGK BP7HS as a standard type/heat plug for your bike. T...

Re: Smoking under acceleration.

There's always oil sitting in the upper inlet on a bevel. It would be there in the lower as well if it were able to pool. There might be a little more oil there than usual due to your smoke issue, but it's always going to be there, so don't take it as a fault.

Re: Ducati 900 SS '82 | Front cylinder exhaust running hot

Check and see if you're getting any advance. Mine was running like this with both rewired and brand new pickups. Mine's off being worked on elsewhere now after my own efforts failed to resolve the same sort of issue. I couldn't see any advance after several attempts to rectify it. It'll be the ignit...

Re: Oil leak by the axel/sprocket

p.s no Loctite, just correct torque and a perfect fit between the nut and lock washer.

Re: Oil leak by the axel/sprocket

The thick side of the sprocket goes on the outside, and there should be a spring inside that tube to stop it collapsing.

Get a new nut and washer and don't skimp on applying the correct torque for this, preferably with the proper tool. Highly dangerous to mess this one up.

Re: 1982 900ss - Brembo PS15 Bubbles!

Thanks for the replies guys. Yes, I did the one where you leave it tied down over night as well. There's just no air in the pipe going to the calliper. Looking at those parts and at an exploded diagram I've just found, I'm pretty convinced the entry point is there on the right of the piston where th...

1982 900ss - Brembo PS15 Bubbles!

Hi all My bike was restored over several years and then sat for 5 years after it was largely completed. As part of readying it for some road use, I have flushed fresh brake fluid through and bled the brakes front and rear. Front worked fine, but the rear is a bit off. There is no air going through t...

Rob from NZ here

Hello Steve and all I've recently purchased a 1982 900ss in fairly flawless condition and am busy tidying up the few remaining items to make it perfect. I've been busy reading forum threads here and elsewhere going all the way back as far as they go, and have browsed every page of every site I can f...
