Dellorto 40 Float Question

Post by r1ch4rdb »

Hi all.
Just started a strip down of my Darmah's carbs and noticed a small groove in the top of each float. It appears to be where the tickler rod bears against the float. Is this groove supposed to be there? or do I need a new set of floats.
Cheers

If it looks worn then replace it. If it is wearing thin then eventually it will get a hole and cause problems.

Dellorto 40 Float Question

Cheers Steve,

The grooves appear to be similar in size but rough edged so i guess safer to replace while its in bits.

Thanks again

I found with one of the 40s on my bike that the groove would cause the ticker plunger to jam the float down and overflood the carb. This made the bike very hard to start. I would replace both floats.
