Chrome plating - Conti

I have a pair of Conti exhausts that i want to have re-chromed. Any suggestions on where to do this in the US?
also I have been told by one chroming shop that I would need to have the id numbers and the Conti text engraved deeper in order to keep it visible. Does anyone have any experience with this?
any insights wold be very helpful.

ask Connie to please be gentle with the polishing around the CONTI and part numbers etc. They do a good job. DOn;t expect any bolk discount unless you send a hundred pieces....................

Terrific! Thanks, Steve, I will check out their website and give them a call. Fortunately, the area around the part numbers and the name Conti aren't the problem areas.

When I get it done, I will post a report.

I had an email exchange with Bob and this is what he wrote me.

Yes we have stripped and re plated many mufflers.

There are a few tricks that can make this difficult.
The exhaust gas has a corrosive effect on the interior of the pipe and
sometimes the removal of the plating exposes severe pitting under the
plate, from the inside out. This is normally the case where the pipe
makes the first most dramatic bend. Two reasons for that, one the metal
at the bend has been stretched thin there during the manufacturing
process and two the heat builds up where the first bend is. Removing and
replating has some risk on this piece because of that.

The mufflers also must be able to drain properly when submersed in the
solutions. Baffles that trap exhaust carbon, can affect our plating
baths and contaminate them. We elect not to plate the ones where the
baffles can not be removed.

The stamped names and ID numbers can be stripped back to base steel. The
polishing step required for a high shine will "smear" the stamping
somewhat. W can also keep all polishing off of that area but the non
polished area will have a speckled look.

The pictures will help a great deal in giving you a rough idea of what
it would cost to remove the old plate, buff, and nickel chrome plate.
