Hello All,
I have just bolted my clutch together and I have something in the back of my mind.
I seem to remember the very first (closest to the gear box) fibre plate has bent teeth which lock into the clutch hub or am I imagining this? If it has do you know if the teeth should face towards the gear box or face out? Is there a huge problem if I have it the wrong way around?....I really dont want to take the side cover off again unless its really necessary.
cheers

A) So, go on, tell us: what's the bike? (!)
B) I guess you're not aware, but there are workshop manuals available for FREE consultaion on Steve's site: http://www.bevelheaven.com/, Manuals.
And, according to these:
Final plate has the ears facing inwards. First plate has the teeth bent outwards - well on SS and Dramah engines, anyways. But not 860. So I suggest you best go check the manual for your bike ...

sorry....the bike is a Darmah.
Too be honest I really cannot confirm how I installed the first plate...hope its Ok either way.
I checked the manual (not the most detailed reference) and it only shows the bent tabs on the last plate....no real mention of the first plate.

It's in the text, really - page 68:
"Install the clutch plates starting with the special driven plate taking care to fit it with the teeth bent outwards: install then a driving plate followed by a driven plate and so on. There are 8 plain plates and 8 lined plates in the clutch assembly. Remember that the outer driving plate is slightly different from the others (it has angled ears) and should be fitted with the ears facing inwards."
But I seem to remember that it's pretty obvious if you do get one or other the wrong way round .. (Isn't it, guys .. ? )
Ciao
