Have been having trouble with the clutch not releasing after the bike sits for a few weeks. Probably shouldn't have, but I raised the revs to about 1800 and dropped it into first. Clutch freed up, but I now have a knocking/ticking noise when the bike is in gear. Something broke. Any suggestions of where to look first?
Thanks for any response

Re: 1978 SSD Tapping Noise in Transmission
maybe the gearbox spring......
Hey, its always a good idea to start the bike up and after warming up a bit, with the bike on the center stand, pull in the clutch and put it in gear, then roll the bike forward and off the center stand.
Also, at a light, I push forward to get the bike rolling then pull in the clutch and drop her into gear and go.....
Helps keep things from going BANG.
