88mm pistons - Part number identification

Post by PJDucati »

Hi. I am doing a top end refresh and have found my 1982 MHR has 88mm pistons fitted. The pistons look relatively new (little carbon build up) and there is a number stamped on the crown of the piston, this reads 88-67493\C. Can anyone identify this piston? I cannot see any visible markings on the under crown.
Thanks, Phil.

Anyone heard of using 88mm pistons in a 900ss bevel engine?

I've got a Darmah with 88 mm's also, but sadly the builder stopped all earthly activities so no idea where he got them.
i know moto Guzzi used some 88's in the 1000's, could be theirs ?

88mm is a common upgrade, as is 90mm (with new liners to suit).
A few different manufacturers made 88's, I can t recall the brand right now, but will check my info at home and see if I can dig the name up. I have high comp oversize pistons in my race bike engine, that were a popular brand in the day.

Hi. Thanks very much for the replies. It would be interesting to find out what is the piston manufacturer should I need new rings in the future. I suppose any bore damage after this it is new liners and pistons. Ouch!

Thanks, Phil.
