SD900 runs rough
Re: SD900 runs rough
I tried for a year to balance my carbs. Couldn't do it. Rebuilt the carbs. Things got much better, but there was still a hiccup in the idle. When I replaced the insulators, and rebalanced, it went away. Try balancing first, it costs nothing and at worst will rule out the simplest solution. If you bleed Ducati (like Steve ) you can do it by sound. The ghost of my mechanical engineer father forced me to use gauges.

Re: SD900 runs rough
glad you got er done. Time is money though, so all the things experimented with then the TIME spent rebalancing, I mean, attempting to rebalance the carbies has the be factored in.... Bottom line is you got it running right ultimately which IS the goal afterall, right <>

.......and credit where credit is due.........Rich Lambrechts truly sorted my bike.
Re: SD900 runs rough
G'day all,
Managed to get Mozz's bike up and running but it was an absolute battle.
Forget the "just strip and rebuild the carbys" approach!!!!!
Almost took a bloody engine rebuild in the end.
When I get time, I will document and describe the litany of cock-ups with the bike that had me tearing my hair out.
In the end, the carbys were a minor problem that only required a clean and new bits. Tuning took about 10 minutes.
Took days to fix the rest.
