Post by AndyBig »

Hi I've been looking for this post in the forum and can't find it, a friend pass it on to me because I've been thinking of doing the same thing.
Has anyone done this or know if it is a good mod?
Cheers Andy

G,day Andy,

I have not seen that posting before as I don't subscibe to the bevelheads list. (too many emails) but unless I am mistaken, I think the author is Peter Cross, who is a well respected, knowledgeable Ducati mechanic that has a workshop next to Winton raceway in Victoria, if so it should be good info as Peter knows what he's talking about with bevels.

Frankly, I can't see how it could do any harm, as the current bypass filter is almost completely usless, so it sounds logical to me >

Having said that, hopefully someone will respond that has actually done the conversion and can give us a confirmation ?

Cheers

Big Andy,

Thanks for the update, an interesting subject you've raised.

After your last posting I put a call in to Damien Birch at Bevel Rubber to find out how much of the conversion he would undertake. It appears Vee Two no longer manufacture any bevel-drive stuff, and I wondered about locating the items like the replacement oil filter cover ect.
He advised, he can do as much or as little as required. He will make the oil filter cover if needed, or just the new oil pump body.( either for the conversion, or just a standard relacement ) Not cheap, but I guess 1 off manufactured items never are.
It's not a small conversion if your engine is complete and in the bike, but luckily I am just in the process of starting to build, so it sounds
like an interesting prospect to me. I will investigate further.
Cheers Rick

It sounds interesting with a full flow filter, but how about the extended time before the oil reach the big end.
I am thinking about when starting up the engine after a while. As i understand the flowdirection, the filterhouse need to be completly filled up with oil before it goes to the cylinderheads and the big end.

Any long term experience with this fullfilter modification?

But I really like the internal modification, instead of the outside tube running from the filterhouse to the engine case.
