79 GTS Import numbers..

Post by mizike77 »

I was told that the 79 GTS had a very low US import number. Is this true? Is the 79 GTS a bit of a rare bike?
79 Darmah
78 900 GTS
86 F1B
80 SSD
02 Harley FXD
72 H2 750 triple
08 KTM 300XC
there has yet to be a motorcycle line made that is as satisfying to ride, hear and look at as the ducati bevels

According to Ian Falloon's "Standard Catalog of Ducati Motorcycles" p.101 the 860 GTS became the 900 GTS for 1978, with 30 GTS USAs produced in '78 and 40 in '79. So it seems as thought they were pretty rare even by Ducati standards, with fewer made than the same year 900SS US models (33 and 160 respectively, p.106).
