'73 750 GT Kick Start Lever

Post by gewwa »

The "L" shaped kick start lever (0755.07.300) on my 1973 750 GT broke some time back and I have had no luck in locating a replacement. I read somewhere that to use the later kick start levers (0755.07.303 or 0755.07.306)the spindle needs to be replaced with the later one (0755.07.113).
However, a person who has been working on bevels for many years told me that the later levers can be installed on the original spindle. Is he correct? Lastly, what's the difference between the two spindles? I thought it was the length but now I suspect it's might be the diameter.

Thx

Gewwa - the later spindle (0755.07.113) is 15 mm longer than the earlier one (0755.07.110). This is indicated in the parts book by the text "Perno avviamento L=300" against the earlier one and "Perno avviamento L=315" against the later one. I believe that the diameters are the same though. I read somewhere that this was due to a modification to prevent the lever from cracking the alternator cover.
Regards,
Steve.

Thanks Bern.
I'm going to keep an eye on your kick start lever whilst I figure out if I can install the later type on my bike.

Steve,
I came up with the same information during my research and I can confirm that the earlier shorter spindle and kick start lever damages the cover.

Thx
