so i got this bike in pieces and am putting it together, not fussed about originality or trying to make it gleam, just want it mechanically good and able to handle as well as one might. just need a bit of advice to save me some trial and error time i suppose, maybe get some ideas, trade a few bits. chew the fat. havent really had much interest in ducatis since i escaped their clutches in the late nineties for guzzis and then more latterly BMW.

Welcome Jake: My first Ducati was a 74 GT860; a great bike except for its looks. I put on a Darmah tank, a Hailwood seat, Tomasseli clip ons, a 2-into-1 exhaust, home made rear sets and clock plate and painted it all black, including the engine casings and barrels. It was a great bike. I have the old Haynes Manual; have you got yours yet? It's pretty good for the GT860. Here's another very useful link for working out what's missing and where its goes:

Good luck, post pics!
