Hello, new member here.

Hello to all, new member. I have a 1978 Ducati 900GTS. I have had for 26 years and ridden twice. Last time was 1992   . As I have a number of bikes it was not an issue to park it and ride something else. Bike was sold new at Sonny Angel Motorcycles in National City California in 1978. Ridden home by the new owner and partially disassembled, shoved under the work bench and left. I acquired it in 1992 and put it back together and started it back up. At that time it had 18 miles on the odometer. First ride the headlight switch jammed and the terminals on the voltage regulator melted. Fixed that and put on new tires, Works performance shocks and a Staintune exhaust system. Second ride the brake master cylinder stuck, forks leaking and the rear cylinder oil leak. Pushed it to the back of the shop and left it until a few weeks ago. Bike now has about 200 miles on it in 40 years. As I am now retired I have time to get it back on the road. As is it was lots of fun when it was running I could not part with it. But I have to say, Italian electrics are the worst crap I have ever seen. Makes Lucas look high quality. Now I know why Laverda avoided it at all cost!

The reason I parked it is I have too many bikes:

welcome aboard.. time to get the thing road worthy so you can enjoy it. there will be lots of things to address but once you do, you will be good to go. Letting a bike sit for decades is terrible on the parts but, as long as you understand this, and have the patience to go through it you will be rewarded with a super fun bevel drive Ducati to enjoy.
