Hi everyone. I joined mostly because im thinking of modernising the charging system and theres a lot of conflicting info floating around. Be greatful for any serious info. Thankyou. Paul

Hello Paul,
Here is one option for upgrading the alternator. I did this on my early 860GT which has the same alternator as the 750. My 860 now has a Lucas Rita ignition which is not self energizing like the original 860 ignition. With the original alternator(and the RITA) my headlight would be dim and the battery charge did not keep up. So far this alternator is doing the trick although I have not taken any long rides so far to confirm.

Ok I will recommend the last post as I think this would be the way to go,
unless you want to change the whole system which has been done?

The old (narrow magnet) setup is a on the limit when You run with the lights on.
As long as You keep the revs over 4000, it will recharge.
Better for the bigends too.
