Hi from Sydney Australia

Post by AussieDuc »

Hi all,

I'm from Sydney Australia and have recently found this sit. It's great so I though I'de join and chat. I don't own a Ducati right now but am looking at buying an 85 S2 Mille. I am interesting in knowing if I can simply bolt on MHR fairing as I believe thay share the same frame?

Hi Aussieduc,
Yes you can as the Mille frames were the same for both S2 and MHR except for the "coverings" and frame numbers. A lot of S2 Milles were dressed up as MHR Milles but that is a shame as the S2 is one of the rarest of the Ducatis with only 171 built officially although a small number of FrankenDucs exist (MHR Mille frame sequence with S2 Mille clothing). These are genuine S2 Milles but are very few in number.
What number is the one you are looking at (frame and engine)?
Shoot me an email at [email protected] with a piccie if you can.
Regards,
RAD

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the welcome and replies. I understand your concernes re originality and rareity of the S2 Mille. But in this case the bike was crashed and repaired. It has an SD dash and an ss front fairing. If it bolt on fairing then I guess it could all be easy to reverse when I can source the original missing pieces. I'll send a pic to your email as I cant work out how to attach one in this post.

read the instructions again, then go to your picassa and unlock or make public your folder. You then need to paste the URL of each specific image you want to show, not your photo gallery. You image will end in .jpg

Can not sort this Picsa stuff out. I have made the album public bit the images are not displayes with a URL ending in .jpg

Next question - RaAD you asked for the engine and frame numbers
Eng 100693 ZDM1000
Frame DM1000S2 100635

Now this raises a question because Ian Fallon says the ZDM1000S2 frame numbers ended at 100125 before the new frame numbers beginning ZDM1000R . He goes on to say that there are some exceptions in the later models using the S2 frame numbers.

Is the bike I'm looking at one of those exceptions.

Does it really matter value wise that it is missing its front fairing and dash?

There is a totally original 83 S2900 that I could get.

Whats the general consensus on which one is the better model / more collectable?
