South African MHR

Post by Trevor »

Hi,
Just to say I have been working on my 1982 MHR for the past year and it is now running again, it has only 16 000km on the clock and basically suffered from neglect of not been used much for many years. Fortunately when I bought it it came with a lots of spares and I managed to source a lot of stuff locally. The fairing still needs to be done and that is a slow process as I am scared to put anything on other than sandpaper.
Hopefully the link for the photo's works
regards

Hello Trevor, and welcome!
Nice MHR, why not fit a half fearing?
I have a 900SS half fearing on my Mille MHR, and store the full fearing in my garage.
With the half fearing, the roadholding is far better, and the looks of the engine is just great!

Hi Trevor

nice Hailwood mate, can I ask what that black thing is near your right thumb? it looks like it sticks out from the bevel cover on rear cyl,

Cheers

Hi Barry, it is an aftermarket Rita electronic ignition, the pick up is off the rear cylinder bevel drive.

Oh! ok, I've never seen one before, does it offer any advantages over the stock ignition setup?

barry, if you have a mhr, i have an 81 mhr, i have put a set of the dyna coils advertised on the shopping section of bev heav, it,s made a fantastic difference and they bolted into the same coil bracket without too much drama, the spark is a lot better and 99% of the time i get a first kick start
