So, anybody out there know how many posts a guy has to make to get past the cucciolo moniker?
And, is it somehow possible to skip the 'parallel twin' stage? Lol.....

Yes Joe, I've finally made it to the status of....a......urmmm......Mariana?
So, just what is a Mariana? Another weird sub 100cc autocycle thingy? _?_
Whatever it is, I'm sure I don't want to stay one for long, so I gotta keep those posts flowing in! :*<:
So what is the next level?

Just for some fun, I set up "ranks" on the forum a long time ago. Below are the rank names and post counts needed to achieve them - basically every 50 posts you evolve to the next level.

FYI - Anyone overtly blabbing just to increase their count will see their account get deleted. But first, a warning will be given and a special 'blabbermouth' rank assigned. :blah:

Cucciolo - the Lil Pup 1
Mariana 25
Diana 50
Mach 3 75
Parallel Twin 100
750 GT 150
750 Sport [BEVEL] 200

Cagiva Alazzura 700
Cagiva Indiana 750
Cagiva Elefant 800

Ok Steve, thanks for that info- I've been curious since day one.
BTW, if I were to slip you a few bucks, can I skip the Parallel Twin stage?

I know I'm biased, as ex-owner of two 500 desmo's, being born as a Montanari, speaking a few languages.
But I'm sure my aunt's name is MARIA-ANNA or as we all said : MariaNNa.

Maybe someone else can tell the story that Fabio was "just" the cook and Franco "just" the pizza-deliveryboy bringing a Pizza mariana

And in a few years, only a few will remember the "real" names in Ducati History

And if you wonder why I bother to reply : just another notch to get to the Final "moniker" :-D

Do you mean to say you owned a 500 desmo, then at some some point you actually went out and bought another????
Tell me that's not true!
Tell me your uncle died and he left you two 500 desmo's in his will, and there was nothing you could do about it....
For what it's worth, my mother-in-law is called AnnaMaria, as is my sister-in-law!

I bought a '75 GTL500 and a Maico MC400 as a job lot a few years ago fully intending to sell the GTL on straight away and lined up a buyer before I parted with the $1500 for both bikes but I have to say I fell in love with the "baby GT" after having it in the workshop for a short while. I was going to keep it till I pulled the tappet covers off and saw metal filings, covers back on, sold it for $1200. I have regretted it since many times, I really wish I still had it (no room, 15 bikes will have to be enough, "yeah, right").
My old man bought a '79 SD500 (god only knows why) and after years of buggerising around with it he gave it to me (again, god only knows why but who am I to knock back a free seventies era Ducati) when he started getting near the 80yo mark. It's a treasured possession now despite constantly bleeding on the floor from both tank and engine and having a cam chain of all things (I try not to think about it). I am going to eventually strip it to frame and strip engine and peice it all back together the way I want (with custom seat instead of the fugly 1 1/2 whale tail) and SS sidecovers instead of the dunny door side covers and engine "de-grenaded". If nothing else it's a great thing to baffle people with that think they know about Ducatis. It's got the potential to be a beautiful little thing once I sort out the fugly and the hemorraging....

Hey Steve, interesting about the 'ranking thing' but I would think the greenhorns (myself included) would be assigned rubber bands and graduate to bevel gears.
