Clutch Problem on 900S2

Please can anyone help me? I am a bevel owner with 30 years experience, but this one has me licked.
I have owned my 900S2 from new and it has suffered from a clutch that is reluctant to free all of this time. The bike has no kickstart fitted, so the only way to free the plates is to put the bike in gear and rock it with the clutch lifted until it frees. However it still stalls when put into gear. When riding along, if the clutch is lifted it does not want to free, just keeps driving the bike. however, once freed there is no sign of drag.
I have done just about everything - lapped the plates, shimmed the springs, lapped the housing. I tried a set of surflex lightweight plates, but with these the clutch refused to free at all - explain that! The plates appear to be glued together. The only time the clutch works is if I remove all the plates. wash them in kerosine and reoil them, then all is well for a few miles until the problem returns. Any ideas would be gratefully received.
Thank you,
Desmor
