sprocket choice on Darmah SD

Post by Willemd »

I am getting my Darmah SD 1981 ready and just fitted new sprockets and chain. The bike came with a 16 and 38 but reading up on the subject Steve mentioned somewhere never to go for even/even or uneven/uneven. I also have a 39 and fitted that with the 16.
After tensioning the chain, it is still scraping over the engine blok?

It seems to me that the 16 is too big? Anyone?

You are either missing your chain buffer or it is badly worn. Lucky for you I have them for sale - these were my FIRST product I produced 8 years ago by the way........

I call it my CASE SAVER KIT - time to buy one, and install the 16/39 which I think is THE BEST on any darmah.

Thanks for responding Steve. You are right, it's badly worn. No surprise, lots of other stuff needed replacing too. I will have a look in the shop.
Last time I looked I noticed you had the front fork seals on special, will be the next job.
Regards,
Willem
