Hi folks, my red and white 78 SD900 Darmah is having trouble shifting down through the gears. Third to second and second to first are sometimes getting very hard to select. OK when engine turned off though. Shifting up through the gears is fine. This is my first Ducati and my mechanical expertise is basic so be gentle! Any clues will be gratefully accepted.

Down Shift Problem
Re: Down Shift Problem
Hi Paul,
If it was shifting properly before the problem started something to look at is the gearbox selector mechanism, located behind the clutch. A tired centering spring is a common issue, as is a poorly adjusted centering eccentric screw. You may first want to check that the clutch cable and actuating arm moves freely and that there is a bit of play at the clutch lever end though.
