Stainless head nuts.

My 860 has stainless head nuts, are these servicable? ,in the past i have had problems with stainless bolts into cast iron that kept comming loose.

Hi Bob,

There's no particular reason why they should come loose in the way you've experienced with bolts (not a good idea, that - stainless into cast :shock: :tisk: ). So, if you don't intend lifting the heads, I'd leave well alone ;) .

But you should anticipate some problems if ever you do need to get the heads off >:|!!! . Stainless steel nuts on high tensile steel studs is rarely the happiest of mixes, especially in areas subject to heating. And even more so when the studs are inserted into ali ... :(~
