Bevel gear tube removal on 860gt

I am not really sure how to get the shaft and gears out of the tube.I have the timing gears and cam out.Can anyone give me an idea on how to do this.In the workshop manual looks as thou the lower bevel gear screws off?.Thanks to all responses.

You do have the head off don't you? What are you trying to do?

NO not yet.I will do that.Then What? I am trying to replace the bevel tube with new ones.Mine are pitted real bad.

After you take the cylinder heads off the bevel shaft tubes will readily pull out of the upper bevel gear housing. They are just a slight friction fit.

really you do not need to take ANYTHING off the heads,........ Just remove carbies and exhaust, remove the 4 nuts that hold the head on and lift the heads off. It is easiest if you first line up all the timing marks and whatever you do do NOT spin the cams after removing the heads. THen slide out the bevel tube from the top or bottom, wherever it happens to stay, replace tube Orings, slide in the new tubes and replace the cyl to head orings and then slip the head back on. Voila.

I FINALLY got the tubes and gears out.Thanks for everyones sugesstions.I know i will have a much easier time removeng the front assembly.This is my 1st attempt at an italian motorcycle resto.I will be learning as i go along.Thanks again for the help. 8)

Look at the resto sort of like carpentry,ask twice,do once.
