All other problems resolved. I've just changed the belts on the Paso as well as the 900 ss. Why isn't the belt adj tighter? I mean, a belt driving the cams on a car would be tight. A serpentine belt on a car for A/C, power steering, power brakes, etc would also be tight. and with the tight tolerances in other areas on a Ducatis, I would think the belts would be too.
Puzzled.

Re: cam belt tension
The difference is in the belts you are describing all having a tensioner that is sprung and it provides a constant tension regardless of the expansion and load. The Ducati uses a fixed tensioner and the belts need some play when the engine is cold because when hot the cyl/head/case will expand a pretty large amount taking up the free play. The tightness of the belt doesn't affect the cam timing as the belt doesn't stretch under tension.
