I have an 860GTS that I rebuilt a lot of years ago and set the crank end float to zero. Some years later and quite a few km`s (not sure of the exact amount but maybe 20-30,000km`s it developed end float again. Around .015mm or .006". The shims showed no sign of distress. I wondered if the primary drive gear being helical cut may exert some axial load and thats why straight cut primary is an after market option with dry clutches. After this I pre-loaded her at .002" and she`s been fine since. Mind you the old girl has`nt done a huge amount of work since
