Center gasket on a 1987 750 paso (Pantah)

Post by Brotje »

I was wondering if I need the gasket between the cases or if I can just use silicone gasket maker? Will it affect the clearance on the Crankshaft?

Using sealer between the cases is perfectly OK. You will have to re-shim the crank, trans shafts, shift drum and maybe the jackshaft.Or I think Steve sells a gasket set to cover the belt 750.You should still check the crank preload and the shaft clearances no matter which way you go.

Do you know what the tolerance is on the shafts?

Go for approx. .004" preload on the crank, .004" end float on the trans shafts, and .008" end float on the shift drum.

Sorry for the delay, been traveling. Got it back together today. Third crank fired right up! I think I need to rebuild the carb now. The idle mixture screw on the left side does nothing. Thanks for the advice!
