1990's 900 SS - 400 SS engine

Post by anatak »

Does anybody have any idea if the 900 SS and 400 SS engine have the same dimensions ?
I would like to know if changing the engine in a DB2 400 to a 900 engine would be possible or hopelessly difficult.

Does anybody know if the DB2 400 version has the same frame as the 900 cc version ?

Thanks,

Could you tell me if there is anything peculiar about DB2's to look out for ?
I am looking to buy a DB2 (900) with 20 000 km.
I think it has Keihin flatslides installed but it comes with the original carbs too.

The 90s 750 and 900 had different crankcases and the main difference was of width at the motor mount bosses and the front mount on the small cases was separate bolts instead of a through bolt.IIRC the 900 cases are about 9mm wider at the mounts.900 engines have been mounted in Pantah and F1 frames and I think the width difference has to be taken off the righthand side of the cases.[Don't hold me to this!] I've never examined a 400 up close but I suspect it uses the same cases as the 650 and 750 Pantah and F1.I have seen the later 800 installed in an F1 but I don't know what was done to fit it up.As for the DB2 leave the Keihins on it as they are a much better carb than the stockers.
