SS Exhaust Header Pipe Numbers

Post by MartinMille BANNED »

Hi All

I have had a look at some of the parts manual at Steve's site and noticed that all the header pipe numbers are the same for the SS's
0775.84.024
0775.84.029

Can some of you with various SS's ranging from 75 up to 80 confirm that these are the header pipe numbers you have

Martin - Those are the numbers given in my 1978 model parts book but the ones on my machine are different. My SS has horizontal cylinder header: 0759.84.025, vertical cylinder header: 059.84.020.

I checked my Bevel Twins Restoration Guide and the 024/029 numbers were used with the Lafranconi mufflers. Conti-equipped machines came with the numbers on my bike. It seems these headers share part numbers with the 860GT.

My '75 ss pipes are 0775-84-023 and -028.

I know from experience that the later pipes don't fit the '75 model

ok reading this 23 - 24 pipes is what is required , is it just the header pipes that have a different bent or is the change made at the x -over pipe
But since the x -over pipes have the same numbers for all 900's surely thats not it

Steve , just checking the parts manual is 24 -29

I just went and had another look at what's in the garage...
I've got a -24 ready to go on the other bike and comparing it to the -23 I'd say the bends are identical, but the -24 is maybe 5mm longer at the rear.

Cheers,

Andy
