Some have bored and fitted a hard insert for the bearing surface.

Thanks funduc, I will look into that when I get to the engine. Welcome to the forum, Jordan

I would think repairing those rods would end up costing way too much and result in a weaker rod than a set of good single rib rods. Welding would probably weaken the small end and require straightening and heat treatment. Finding someone competent and most importantly willing to do the repair would be a problem too. Falicon might still do oddball repair work but I think it would take intense begging and many dollars. I would polish them up,Put them on the coffee table, and make up heroic tales about how the engine popped going down the corkscrew in front of Cook Nielson.

The direction I would go, make the bore true and square and sent it out to be nitrideed. Nitriding will shrink the bore slightly.
Then do the final dimension adjustment with the pin. It is far easier for a machine shop to select some real nice material in bar stock to make a replacement pin out of better material than was originally in the engine and can move the diameter to get the clearances desired.
Cheers Charlie

Martin, Thanks for the tip. I could be wrong, but I do not believe the 900 is interchangable with the 750. Jordan

Bugger , would have been a good buy if you have a bottom end blow out.

My bottom end is good, just looking to put a bit of extra spunk in the old GT engine when I get to it.
