860 gts cams & followers.

Post by kerrin »

Hi all.
I'm making a small start on rebuilding my GTS. Both cam shafts appear worn, there are ridges on the lobe which can be felt with my fingernail.

Is there anywhere that can supply new standard camshafts or should I be looking for a second hand pair?
The cam followers appear to have Stellite rather than a hard chromed finish, it looks to be a very thin layer unlike the exchange followers which are available in the UK from Ducatipaddy. I don't have sufficent experience to judge whether this is serviceable or not.

Thanks for any advice.

Look re-usable to me. A clean up with a smooth oilstone,a coating of cam lube. I would check the oil supply ,particularly in the primary casing where oil flow can be lost if the transfer arrangement from oilway to crank are messed up by the omission of a washer that will allow the oil to go straight thro a bearing and into the cases. No oil pressure= none to the valves.
