860 vs 900 pots

Post by jpolai01 »

Can anyone tell me if it is true that the standard 860 barrel can be bored to take the 900 pistons.
I am asking becasue local supplier Gowanloch tells me 860 pistons are
like hens teeth.

Appreciate any advice you can provide.

John,
Not sure what 900 pistons you refer to as all the squarecase engines had a capacity of 863cc as standard with their 86mm bore, they were simply called 900's
A standard barrell can be bored to accept up to an 88mm piston safely giving a capacity of 905cc. personally I would not use the original AE Borgo pistons that came in the 860's as J.E and Wiseco make a much better piston if you are re-building.

Cheers
Rick.
I have desmo disease, I just hope they never find a cure !!!
