Strait cut primary gears

Post by andygbsmith »

Has anyone any experience of straight cut primary gears in there twins.
I know a company in the UK used to make them.
It seems a good idea to remove axial thrust from the crank and gearbox by going to straight cut gears.

I have`nt used them but would like to try. I beleive V2 in Oz makethem also along with a Japanese mob too. I have a GTS I`ve had for some time that develops crank end float over time and I`m guessing the axial load may have something to do with it. That and the bearings are new and in A1 condition. I have`nt gone there as the cost is prohibitive and the end float only opens up after 40,000ks or there abouts. I can`t remember if the load pushes or pulls or possibly changes with acceleration/deceleration. I rekon getting rid of that one step advance Electronica ignition would help the cause too.
