I bought a 1976 GTS which will be delivered later this week
A few questions:
-Can I run unleaded fuel ( we don't have leaded fuel here anymore at the pump, only unleaded with additive) ?
- What oil should I use (mineral of semi synthetic) ?
Kind regards
Yannick

Yannick, go ahead and run the unleaded. Make sure the valves are adjusted correctly. ALWAYS use straight 50wt non synthetic oil. I trust kendal racing 50 or valvoline racing 50 - change it out every 1000 miles and exchange the oil filter as well. Keep the RPMs above 3500 and your motor should last. have fun and why don;t you post some photos in the gallery??

Hello Steve
Thanks for the reply. I will be looking for the singlegrade 50 oil. What would be the downside if I use 20W50 oil ?
Another question: the previous owner let me know the battery is dead, any tips on kick starting the bike, I read in the workshop manual I need to disconnect 2 wires. What battery should I buy, I saw in the manual that the standard battery was 36 amps, but I went to an autoshop and their manual mentioned 20 a/h for the 76 gts.
I will post pictures of the GTS as soon as I have it ( also from the other ducs)

For my BATTERIES page click

You will find my recommendations posted there. Today's batteries are MUCH stronger than theold technology.
The long time engine builders all seem to agree that straight 50wt oil will help make your bottom end last.
