Tap and die set

Post by blaine.hale »

Hey folks,

Can anyone make a recommendation on a tap and die set that would cover all the 1.0mm pitch (extra fine) threads on the old singles? If it helps, my model is a 66 Ducati Monza. I was thinking of picking up either of the follow but don't know if that's enough 1.0mm pitch to cover all the threads. I'm getting all my parts back from the powder coater this week and I'll need to chase all the threads. Not just from powder coat but just being generally cruddy from the years.

Thanks!

I doubt those sets will have any 1.0mm pitch taps/dies other than the 6x1.0. Fine thread metric taps and dies are available from McMaster Carr, MSC and other induatstrial supply houses. I'm not familiar with the singles but I think 7,8,and 10 x1.0 would cover most of your needs.

Thank you! I really just needed to know what sizes to get. I don't exactly have a thread gauge so it's handy to be able to post here.
I could probably use a normal tap and die set too :)

*edit- Wow, did not expect a single die to be $29-$59.
