timing dots

In preparation for pulling the head on my Monza 250 I removed the timing cover and bevel cover on head. Turned engine several times over and I get the bevel sets to line up and many more times over and I get all of the dots to line up but while dots on the crank to pump drive and pump drive to point cam gear are together they seem to be just a bit off. The picture in my manual shows dots in line with the center line of their gears while mine are not quite. Moving engine a small bit lines these dots up with their gear center line but of course the dots on the bevels are off then. The only way I can see these being off like this is maybe the bevel gear on the crank has moved on it's key way? Lock on nut holding bevel gear on is intact. Not sure what is going on here.

I took some pictures of how the timing dots line up in my engine to give you an idea of how they look. Seems to be a bit off to me.

Mat, that's fine, the dots are lined up OK, there's nothing wrong there.
