Which Carb for sc250

The 1964 Sc250 n/c I got didn't come with a carb. Which model did it come with and is there a better carb for performance? I'm not doing a perfect restore so I'm more interested in a carb that would be a good performance upgrade.
Thanks

According to Mick Walker's "Ducati Singles" book it should have a Dellorto SS1 27D.

Needle: M14
Main Jet: 112
Pilot Jet: 50
Slide: 100
Needle position: 3
Needle Jet: 265

Sorry, I don't know about the suitability of other carbs.

Kev

If you're not interested in originality, the SSI 27D is probably not the way to go. They're expensive, usually worn out and difficult to get tuning parts for. You'd be better off with a round slide Mikuni or a Dellorto VHB or PHM if you want to keep it Italian. There was a recent post on the Motoscrubs board on jetting a Mikuni for a Ducati 250. Might have a look there. Matt
