Frame Question 160 vs 250

Post by ducatiboys »

Hello, I'm new to Bevel Heaven and I have a question.
Is a 1966 Monza jr.160 frame the same as a 1966 Monza 250 frame? Both are Narrow case frames.

Thank you for your help,
JM

No.
The Italian 160 frame has a shorter depth to the headstock, together with a different battery tray.
The swinging arm is also shorter and differently braced.
The Spanish 160 frame is much the same as the 250 frame,(both Italian and Spanish), but like most Mototrans machines has the shorter swinging arm as standard.

Thank you Jon for your reply.
Could a 250 engine fit into a 160 frame? Just curious.

Thanks again,

A 250 motor will fit into a 160 frame, but the width of the front engine mount is narrower on the 160.
You would have to make up some spacers to fit between the engine plates and the frame to take up the extra width of the 250 motor.
I can't remember exactly what width these should be.
I think you would require four 10mm spacers.

I have a 250 Mach1 in a modified 160 frame, so that the width is the same at the front engine mounts.
It is however not easy to get the engine in and out of the chassis and it could damage the paint.
Since it will be used for racing, I don't worry too much.
It is easier with the head off :-).
enjoy it,
