520 chain on a 250

Someone told me that there is a easy way to convert a 250 motor from 428 to 520 chain. They said is a countershaft sprocket off a "Honda Motocross bike" that has the exact same spline and "may have to shorten it a little". Has anyone done this, know what he is talking about? Using on a flat track bike w/Duc motor so sprockets for the Q/C rear wheel are easy to get. The 428 chain has held up but looks kinda spindly for the hole shots we try to do. Most of my competition is running a heavier chain.
I see here on the Bevel Heaven shopping there is a "530" sprocket for the 250. What the heck is 530, I thought it went from 428 to 520 on motorcycles. Some bikes have 530?

My 750 GT has 530 chain/sprockets and to the best of my knowledge most, if not all, of the bevel twins did.

Most of my competition is running a heavier chain.

Doesn't mean that they need it, a good quality 428 should be easily enough, I've seen them used on 40 -50 hp bikes and 70-80 hp 250 Superkarts

520 chain gets used on 180 hp bikes with no problems I would have thought it was overkill

the DID 428 Exclusive Racing NZ gold and black chain I have listed on my site will more than do right on your bike, there is no reason to go larger which will add weight and friction.. >:|!!!

Thanks for the input guy's. Probaly stick with the 428 and replace it every couple years. Steve, this bike (flat track frame) carries a lot of chain. Can't remember the link count but never found it "boxed". Last one I got from A&A Racing they cut off a spool.

i can get a 140 pin for you for if you need more than 120 pin that I have in stock, it is +7 or 10 bucks or so over the 120, I would need to look it up exactly if need be - count PINS on your existing chain so you know what you need and give me a call so we can get what you need sorted. Takes 1-2 days to get your chain in, rear sprockets depending on type are from a week to 3 weeks [bare aluminum, titan hard annodize, polished]. Front sprockets I keep in stock. THANK YOU
