narrow or wide case?

Post by Eldert »

Hi Chris
A Conder uses a widecase engine
the 2 rear engine mountings are 205 mm wide
on a narrow case engine the mountings are only 70 or 80 mm wide
the Condor engine uses a different gearbox as a Ducati and has
screw aduster type rocker arms for easy of maintenance

Thank you very much, Eldert.

Nothing is wrong with my Condor*, and I've got an opportunity to buy a 350 scrambler narrowcase parts bike. Am I likely to find much parts interchange, or are they totally different animals?

Thanks again.

* actually, there is something wrong: sometimes after shifting into 3rd gear, the selector lever doesn't return all the way to the middle position. I can't get into 4th gear without "helping" the shift lever back to the middle.

when i try shifting manually (with the motor stopped) i get a click going into 3rd, but no click when i release the lever. 4th is unavailable until i lift the lever and get the next click. only then can i push down and find 4th gear.

Hi Chris
As for the shifting problems there is a screw under the shifting lever
you can adjust. that screw has a excenter on the other end and let you
play with with the spring inside the selector box
if that dont help the spring got to weak over the years and you have
to fit a new one.
i dont think 350 narrowcase scramblers ever left the factory
if it is one very few parts do interchange but if it is cheap buy it
anyway. you can allways swap narrowcase part for widecase parts
with someone

Huh, great! the spring was one of the first things i planned to grab from the parts bike (after the side stand). Thanks so much for the tip.

Narrowcase allright

Post by Eldert »

Hi Chris
This bike is a narrowcase. you can tell if it is a 250 or 350 by counting the
fins of the cilinder . a 250 has 8 fins and a 350 has 9 fins
