Is this a Scrambler?

Post by dynamitedave »

I got this bike from my Dad after he passed away. He owned it for 29 years. It was a street bike but turned it into a dirt bike.

I have been looking at pictures and it looks like a Scrambler. There is no tag on the neck and I can't find any numbers but I'll look more when i get home today. It is a 350cc tho and i do have a spare engine for it, in pieces.

Any guesses? Good guesses? Cold hard facts about the bike?

thanks,

Hi Dave,

The DM stands for Ducati Meccanica. (And that's a wide-case engine, btw).

The wide-case Scrambler frame is distinctive in that the loop in the frame at the back of the bike tilts upwards. On the other models, it's flat. But I can't see from your photo whether yours does or not ...

Is there a number stamped on the headstock, i.e. between the upper and lower triple trees?

(And I see that the engine has the Scrambler style gear lever, not the heel-and-toe arrangement that the other models normally have).

Ciao

Craig
