Some Par Twins in the barn!

Post by jcslocum »

Hello all!

I have just picked up 350 GTV and a 500 Desmo this weekend along with 3 spare engines and a frame with some bits hanging off of it.

The 350 looks good and the 500 is a bit of a rat. Both bikes are quite complete (as you can see in the pictures) and I will try to get the 350 road ready for the spring. The 500 looks to really need attention.

I realize that things have been very quiet on the board for a few months but I hope someone is out there!

Nice find! Where did you get them? I enjoy the hunt for the bikes almost as much as I enjoy riding them....

there has yet to be a motorcycle line made that is as satisfying to ride, hear and look at as the ducati bevels

A buddy of mine had them in the back of his garage. I'm project addicted and a sucker for any kind of oddball Duc. I really like the looks of the 350 and will get it on the road for my daughter to ride on instead of the Honda 550SS that she has been learning to ride on.

The Sport 500 I may just clean up and sell to finance other projects. I now have 11 Ducs in the barn.

Clean up the 350 and fit the 500 Desmo engine.
That'll liven things up :-D
Seen some race-cams on iebeey lately : better even.
350 is too slow and heavy.

I was wondering if one of the spare engines has the spigoted barrel (liners poking over the top of the barrel)?

If that is the case do you have the fire rings that go up into the head to supply the seal?

We have a motor that we are going to put together this summer, but do not have the dimensions for the fire rings!

Chris,

I don't have any gaskets or extra parts. What you see in the pictures is what I have.

Jon,

Is one of the engines that you are going to take apart prior to no 501655? If so then it should have these thin shims between the top of teh barrels and the head. We think that they are going to be of the order of 7-8 thou thick.
