I seem to remember some time last year that someone posted the idea of inserting a plate above a honda oil filter in ones of these bikes, as the Ducati filters are difficult to get.

It involved some form of plate that needs to be machined up.

However I cant find the post!

Can anyone help?

Yes I know that Giovanni has the genuine filters, but his are old stock and two out of the three that I bought had rust on the metal parts, not what you want to put into a freshly re-built engine.

In part my reason for going over to the Honda filter, is that it is widely available and a lot cheaper than the Ducati one.

I have a spare engine in pieces, so it looks like I will have to reverse engineer the adaptor plate then.

Hello Chris.

I understand you don't like these rusty filters even if i think it's more a psycologic than a technical problem.
I bought condensers from Giovanni, they were the same...
I am tot shure there is room enough in the filter housing to fit an intermediate plate for the Honda filter and which one nor the exact design of it.
I remember some one talked about the idea but nothing more.
If you are lucky enough to find the drawing of course I would be interested.

Hi, that idea of using plate was mine, but Gowanloch uses much more simple idea, just a piece of aluminium tube. You can ask them:

I can measure that tube if you like to machine it yourself.

That´s the text on label. 70´s CB 750 filter should fit also.

I have heard that the Kawasaki Ex 250 cartridge fits directly.
This bike is the 250 twin called 250 Ninja in some countries, the sports 250.
I wiil buy one soon to make sure.

Thanks for the information, I will attend to this when I get back from the Moto Giro d'Italia in 10 days time.

I am looking to make the modification as the Honda filters will be available in the UK easily and the sealing rubbers on the NOS filters ae quite hard and might not seal properly.

We have had the bike running "badly" and had to park it until I get back from Italy. Turns out the timing marks for the ignition are a bit retarded, so we have had to degree wheel everything. Additionally even though we have ultrasonically cleaned the carbs, the choke jets keep blocking with muck making starting very difficult.

In fact the Kawasaki and Honda filters are the same, they need an intermédiate washer to fit. (30x20.5x8)
You can also choose Yamaha FZ 750 filters.

Well mine is up and running, though on a std oil filter at the moment and will be dancing round Cadwell park Monday and Tuesday next week all being well at the Clubs annual trackday.

I have picked up a couple of Honda filters and plan on making them fit shortly.
