These forks have been lying around for the last 25 years and I guess the insides of the stanchion have gotten all gummed up. No matter what I've tried so far, the damper assembly won't budge. Soaking in a releasing fluid (releasall) for two days and gentle persuasion with a sized bar and mallet had no effect.
These forks are off a 1974 250 desmo (front disk brake)
Is this going to be a totally brute force job and all the inside components made up new or has anyone come across this problem before. I would appreciate any help on how to go forward as I am in the process of a total rebuild.
Thanks
Steve
