What kind of frame?

Post by EricC »

I am starting my first Ducati single project, and have a question about a frame I just purchased on eBay. I can find no stampings on the frame to denote what it is, but it is a widecase frame with flat steel bracing welded to both the swingarm and vertical frame tubes running between the swingarm pivot and rear tank mount. The rear of the seat loop does have a slight kick-up to it, leading me to believe that it may be a Scrambler frame. Does anyone have any thoughts? Thanks-

Single frame pic

I posted a pic of the frame here:

I know it's not a great picture (it's the one used on eBay), but I don't have digital camera, so it's the best I can do right now. The red circle shows the vertical bracing, and the red lines show the swingarm bracing.
Thanks

Hi Eric
It is a scrambler frame . the top schockmount is a little mounted forword
compared to a Mark III roadster frame
the added reinforcemend gusseds would make it a 450

what are you gonne build ??

Thanks for the info Eldert! The plan is to build a street bike with a period cafe look. I've started collecting parts, and am moving out of the country during 2006, so will be starting the bike when I get back. I have a 748 now, but the vintage bug bit me hard....
