Fork oil again..........

Post by welshmally »

What is it about Ducati's and oil? Nobody seems to be able to agree on engine oil, and so it seems with the forks!!

Late '79 900SS:

Anyway, I have a couple of questions: what springs would you recommend to replace the original (should I need them)?

The manual states 250cc oil (I assume after a strip down) but are there any suggestions for just an oil change? Also any recommendations for grade and brand would be useful (UK please). Manual states AGIP F1 - not sure if this still exists.......

I'm average height and 13 stone.

Cheers

We developed a nice dual rate spring kit with adjustable crossover you should consider. 230cc per fork leg of whatever fluid you decide to use.

Thanks Steve,

There also seems to be debate on the grade, anything from 5 to 20W. Again, any preferences?

depends on your weight and how hard you ride.

Generally, as with all things suspension, the harder you ride [faster] the stiffer things need to be set up.

Since our dual rate suspension kit works as it is intended, you don;t need to use overly viscous oil in the forks.

Oil weight and amount of oil affect things.... You need to try something and see how she goes, then adjust from there.
