1979 SSD frame footpeg mounts

Post by mdal »

Hi All

My frame has been altered along the way by someone to move the footpegs further back. The old mounting bosses have been cut off and a new mount fabricated. In the quest for originality I have removed the new additions and now want to go back to original. I can see where the old mounts were located by the ground off welds. Could someone please measure their mounts and tell me:-
1. The dimensions of the mounts
2. How far they protrude out past the frame.

Thanks Mark

The toothed circle under the swingarm pivot is the factory peg mount. Not sure what the cut off welds are from...

there has yet to be a motorcycle line made that is as satisfying to ride, hear and look at as the ducati bevels

Hi Mark,

3 photos below of what I think you want. In which case, it's 30mm long, 20mm OD. (Sorry, didn't measure the ID but I guess it will be whatever your pegs need ! )

HTH, but if you need more, let me know.

Ciao

Craig

You might reasonably think so, but that's not actually the case. While you find this knurled fitting on early SSDs like Mike's, it wasn't in fact used for mounting the pegs - or, indeed, anything else :-D  ...

(However, I s'pose it WAS used on the SD, tho' - ?)

You can see it here 'Not in Use' on my SSD.

At the moment I don't have more detailed pics, They seems identical to Craig ones.
If you need any measurements or detailed pics just let me know.

Thanks Craig and Giovanni

Can I assume the mount protrudes past the frame by approximately 10mm.
Could you please confirm. See attached drawing.

Hi Mark,
the total length of the piece is 32 mm and in my bike it protrudes 12 mm from the frame and is oriented on the other side respect to your drawing, have a look at the pic.

Giovanni

Thanks for that. I have mounts made and now can go ahead and complete welding in position.
