Headset bearings and fork oil....
My front end is off, and im replacing the headset bearings. Anyone have any good ideas to take off the lower bearing race from the stem? I am having no luck. Also, since its apart i am changing the fork oil. Any suggestions as to what oil and amount to use. I have the manual but maybe there is a modern replacement thats better.....

I use the proper tool to remove the lower bearing off the stem available at ANY automotive parts place. Also, before buying that tool, I used my die grinder and a cut off wheel to carefully cut slots in the race then whack it with a hammer and off it comes. Be careful not to cut into the steering stem obviously.
