new head stem bearings

got new bearings-no grease in em-whats the type of grease to use ? or none

Any good quality wheel bearing grease will do. They must be packed fully don't just smear them with grease and install, you have to work the grease in between the rollers, cage, and inner race.

Marine grease, the blue stuff, is good as it repells water the best.

I'd be doing as suggested by wdietz186. Use a good quality bearing grease. It's thicker, stickier, and thats what it is for. If you're concerned about water ingress, you can even buy boat trailer wheel bearing grease (at least you could, I have a can of BP Energrease Trailer Wheel Bearing Grease - specificallyh for salt and fresh water environments - but it is many years old now). Bearing grease generally needs to handle higher temps and high spin rates (so it doesn't throw off through centrifugal motion) so it is thicker, like the consistency of cold jam you've kept in the fridge.

Having said that, not such a big deal in head stem bearings, but i'd use it anyway, cause it will last longer and support the bearing rollers better. As wdietz186 said, pack em hard and full by working it right in.
