motor numbers or lack there of...

Post by pablo350 »

ok so i bought a basket case over the weekend.
250 narrow case frame
wheels
electrics
ceriani road race forks
narrow case bottom end

no frame numbers. i asume the plate was removed for painting once upon a time.
the interesting thing about the numbers stamped on the motor...
there is only a 87500 and no other numbers?
i would think there'd be a DM250 before that, but nothing.
and Help/Thoughts?

Should have DM250 on the left case right next to the 87500 on the right case. Is this the bike Joe Carter had listed on ebay recently? I was trying to figure out what it was. Not much to go by but the shocks look like original Diana shocks. Seems to me the 87xxx numbers are Diana. 87500 seems pretty early. Is it a 4 speed or 5 speed? Perhaps the left case was replaced at some point.

The 160 has a narrower front mount. Other than that as far as I know they're the same.
